The book does not attempt to develop new theorisnor go into advanced problems; but it does cover the basic principles of design, construction, and application along the conventional lines of present-day practice. References are given to many recent technical papers which may be consulted for more complete or advanced information. With the material given in this book as a basis, the interested reader should be able to assimilate them.
