The division of this book into chapters and sections usually followes the organisation of the syllabus. However, since the sections are reasonably independent of each other, alternative teaching sequences may be used. Each chapter opens with a list of learning objectives that are directly realted to the syllabus. The questions at the end of each chapter have been expanded and answers to those involving calculation, plus some others, have been supplied at the back of the book. Worked examples throughout the text highlight important results, laws, definitions and formulae, and provide students with the necessary skills to solve problems.
